Sheraton Maui Hotel

The Sheraton Maui provides clean, comfortable travel accommodations for your Hawaii package vacation deal. Located in Kaanapali, on Maui, the Sheraton Maui is a good luxury resort choice.

Great location (right next to Kaanapali Beach, at Black Rock), impressive pool and architecture

Location relative to the city/area: This resort is located centrally in the Kaanapali formal resort area, right next to the beach.

Location relative to other resorts: This resort is just north of the Kaanapali Beach hotel.

Layout of buildings: The rooms are located in a several white, six-story buildings, most of which are arranged approximately in a U-shape, with the pool in the center. One of the buildings is built right next to the south face of the Black Rock volcanic rock formation. Most of the buildings face south Kaanapali Beach, but three of them are located atop Black Rock, and these face west and northwest.

How far to the beach: The resort property is oceanfront, meaning it is right next to the beach.

Grounds: The grounds are large, covering 23 acres. The grounds are well-maintained, and the lawn near the pool seems to be supremely maintained, consisting of fine-bladed grass so smooth, that it almost does not look like grass. Beautiful fish ponds, little bridges, and sub-tropical plants and flowers (especially palm trees) make the grounds even lovelier, without blocking the ocean view from the guest rooms.

Pool: The pool is spectacular. There is one large, main area, but part of it also forms a type of circular man-made river, winding past rocks, waterfalls, a water slide, and lovely plants and flowers.

Restaurants: The hotel offers several restaurants:

  • Keka'a Terrace -- open-air dining room serving breakfast buffets and island-influenced dinner specials
  • Teppan-yaki Dan -- Asian food prepared tableside in a spectacular show
  • Lagoon Bar -- oceanfront, poolside grilling
  • Reef's Edge Lounge -- cocktails, casual dining, and billiards
  • Sundowner Bar -- poolside, live entertainment, friendly and enthusiastic, but not cheap - Piqa Coladas were $7.55 each

Nearby attractions: Black Rock is the best snorkeling spot on Kaanapali: and it is right next to the Sheraton. To the south, also within convenient strolling distance, is Whaler's Village shopping center, with its wealth of activities, restaurants, and shops.

Kids Stay Free: Up to the maximum of a total of four people per room, the hotel lets children (under 18) stay free in their parents' room if they don't require extra beds.

Children: The good-for-swimming beach, great snorkeling, spectacular pool (including an area for smaller children), and the activities at the nearby Whaler's Village add more value yet.

How to get there: From the airport, take Highway 380 southwest towards Lahaina. After a few miles, the road merges into Highway 30. Follow Highway 30 all the way to Lahaina, generally following the west Maui coastline. When you reach Lahaina, do not exit, but remain on Highway 30 for another couple of miles until you see the turnoff to the Kaanapali resort area to the left, at a traffic light. Take the exit and follow the main road through Kaanapali as it makes a gentle right turn. Keep following it until you see the entrance to the Sheraton, which is just beyond the entrance to the Kaanapali Beach hotel. If you reach the end of the road, turn around -- you've gone too far.

Golf: The two Kaanapali golf courses -- both championship 18-hole courses -- are in the immediate vicinity.

Parking: Self-parking is free, and valet parking is free the first day.
